    Founder & Artistic Director

    Christopher C. Carter, is an educator, musician, and servant leader who is dedicated to using music to propel positive social change. As Founder and Artistic Director of Voices of Houston he structures programs, directs recruiting and retention campaigns, and partners with the Leadership Team to develop significant musical experiences.

  • Jamal Madden

    Executive Director

    Jamal D. Madden is a musician, administrator, and theorist whose work focuses on the development and maintenance of beloved community in emancipatory projects, and the role of the contemporary artist as witness, disturber of the peace, and persona non grata in our respective sociocultural contexts. He is Executive Director of Voices of Houston where he coordinates to keep the ensemble healthy and functioning, synchronizes the Leadership Team to advance the mission of Voices, and advises on best practices in nonprofit management.

  • Cecily Gordon

    Director of Development & Communications

    Houston native, Cecily Gordon, is a fundraiser, musician, and community builder whose work focuses on the stabilization of communities through artistic intervention. As Director of Development & Communications at Voices of Houston, she efforts to source funds that support the ensemble, directs initiatives to make high impact community connections, manages the organization’s digital presence, and advances organizational structure to develop equitable operational policies.

  • Alora Allen

    Community Engagement Coordinator

    Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Alora Allen found a passion for serving her city and exploring opportunities to support its art. Now a Houston resident, she strives to create safe space through relationship building in her new home. As the Community Engagement Coordinator at Voices of Houston, she develops member programs, activities, and special events to foster community and spark the long-lasting bonds that make Voices of Houston the true community it has become.

  • Orlando Williams

    Collaborative Artist

    Orlando Williams is a musician, community leader, and educator who has a passion for supporting the advancement of music literacy for youth. As a Collaborative Artist with Voices of Houston, he uses his experience as a pianist and choral director to support Voices members in concert and partners with the Artistic Director to ensure efficient performance preparation.
