Houston Festival of Negro Spirituals (HSF)

We opened our season with the launch of our annual Festival of Negro Spirituals, a three-day event that included masterclasses, workshops, and closing a concert.

Behold the Star

Our 2022 annual winter concert was a holiday celebration in song that explored the imagery and iterations of light and light-bringing through musical expression.

Write Me Down in History

Our 2023 annual spring concert celebrated women and their contributions to the preservation of the Negro Spiritual. Guest artists included Dr. Kiana Day Williams, Dr. Gwendowlyn Alfred, and Milan McCray.

Talk to Me Thursdays

A Virtual Talk Series

Running on select Thursdays from March 2023 through June 2023, this series highlighted Black women and their impact on the performance and practice of the Negro Spiritual.

Featured clinicians included: Dr. Eurydice Osterman, Alfrelynn Roberts, Dr. Jan Taylor, and Dr. Lori Hicks.
